I4DI is partnering with Shell Foundation (SF) to conduct rapid impact assessments across four strategic partner projects targeting smallholder farmers and microentrepreneurs in Nigeria and India. These assessments will reveal the extent and depth of net income improvements resulting from SF’s interventions, informing investment strategies and future program designs.
Through a rigorous mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, and innovative analytical frameworks such as retrospective baselines and dose-response analyses, I4DI will generate actionable insights. The findings will illuminate the specific impacts on various customer segments, including women and marginalized groups, enabling a deeper understanding of equity dimensions.
Core Project Activities:
Conduct comprehensive rapid impact assessments for SF’s partner projects Odyssey (Nigeria – Asset Finance), InfiCold (India – Cold Storage), S4S (India – Solar Dryer), and Sistema.bio (India – Biodigester).
Leverage complementary insights from existing assessments conducted for related SF projects (ITC, SunCulture, Keep It Cool).
Design and implement context-specific, validated survey instruments and sampling methodologies.
Execute rigorous primary data collection and analysis using a blend of qualitative and quantitative methods.
Develop customized comparative dashboards to clearly visualize net income impacts across diverse customer demographics.
Produce human impact stories and visual journey maps to illustrate transformative changes at the individual and household level.
Provide comprehensive portfolio-level analyses and syntheses to highlight cross-cutting themes, drivers, and barriers to income enhancement.
Impact & Innovation: This collaboration with Shell Foundation showcases I4DI’s innovative approach to impact measurement, embedding adaptive management practices and advanced data analytics. By combining rigorous technical methodologies with human-centered storytelling, I4DI will deliver robust evidence of how targeted financial interventions drive meaningful income uplift, resilience, and gender equity. Ultimately, the project will equip Shell Foundation with precise, actionable insights to maximize their investments’ social and economic returns and facilitate informed, impactful decision-making.
